The 'agency' has now done a runner and has disappeared without trace!!!

If you still owe money to Go Models, 'Employment Agency Standards' recommend you cancel your debit/credit card - as soon as possible...

This is what one victim was told:

I'm afraid that I don't have good news for you.

A colleague and I tried to visit Go Models & Talent International earlier today (22 January 2010), only to be told that they were no longer at the premises (the signs have been removed from the wall and the offices let to another organisation). The phone number has been disconnected, although the fax number still rings but goes unanswered. The website also remains up, but this may be because they have a contract that hasn't yet expired. My email has also not been acknowledged or answered by Go Models.

I've not been able to track down any other address in the UK for them, so at this time I'm unable to take forward your complaint. If you have another address for them, or other contact details, I would be grateful to receive them and I will take forward your complaint. We are aware that they also have offices in Barcelona and Tel Aviv, but as these are outside the UK, they do not fall within the scope of the current regulations.

It would also be advisable for your mum to contact her bank, and try and stop any further payments being made to them. If they are taking the money from her debit card, she may need to cancel it and ask for a new one to be issued.

I am sorry that I can't offer a more helpful response at this time...

Go Models Forum - Beware

They look for victims on the Internet through sites such as Facebook...

They invite you to see them at 50 Featherstone Street London EC1Y 8RT, phone number 020 725 3824

Then comes the hard sell!!!

Before you know it they have got you to sign up a standing order for £172.50 per month for ten months, making a total of £1,725.00. This is to prove the applicant was really genuine and wanted this opportunity. They claimed the cost covers photos, PR, fees and putting you on their webpage.

What they don't tell, but is in the contract you sign, is a clause stating - you have to find your own work!

If you want to cancel the contract, even just a couple of hours later, they tell you that you cannot. They tell you that they will take legal action against you to recover 50% or100%...

You have a legal right to cancel the contract within 7 days, but the agency claims you have no such rights...
